BCEMS Merit Award Program

Butler County EMS administers a "Merit Program" to recognize rare, unique, or outstanding achievements performed by our EMS attendants.  The Merit Program operates through a nomination, review and award process that is conducted annually.

On average, one of every five nominations results in the award of a Merit Program citation.  In recognition of their accomplishment, Merit Program award recipients are presented citation bars that are worn on the attendant’s uniform.

Below is a complete list of all BCEMS Merit Program awards, an outline of the award's criteria, and a list of all award recipients (both past and present).

AD PROGRAM AWARDS

The BCEMS AD Program (Achievement Designation) program is designed to allow well-motivated and interested employees with a "roadmap" to advancement within the department.  Participants must work to attain various competencies in both the clinical and operational areas of the department.  Those employees that have gained promotion in the AD Program are essentially the non-commissioned officers of the EMS Department and stand ready for promotion to officer positions.

AD Level 2 (L2) Black with Silver Stars

Employees that have attained AD Level 2 have demonstrated a basic knowledge of the administrative principles behind the operational and clincial aspects of the department.

Current Staff: Gabriel Shults

AD Level 2 (L2) Black with Gold Stars

In 2011, significant changes were made to the structure and requirements of the AD Program.  L2 personnel that wear gold rather than silver stars earned their L2 promotion prior to the new AD Program implementation and also posses a basic knowledge of the administrative principles behind the operational and clinical aspects of the department.

Current Staff: Debbie Davis, Chris Gray, Jeff Johnson, & Joe Menadue

AD Level 3-O or C (L3) Black with Silver Stars

The L3-O and L3-C levels (Operations and Clinical) are promotions given to individuals that have shown a clear understanding of administrative functions that govern the Operations and Clinical Divsions of BCEMS.  Not only are these individuals fully qualified to administer certain operational or clincial department functions, but most gained specific areas of expertise during their program participation.

Current Staff: Scott Stueven (L3-O), Steve Storm (L3-O), Josh Whiteside (L3-O)

AD Level 3 (Full L3) Black with Gold Stars

"Full" L3 promotions are given to individuals that have attained the mastery described above of an L3 in BOTH the Operations and Clinical Divisions of BCEMS.

Current Staff: Byron McNary

______________________________________________

AD Level 4 (L4) Black with Gold Stars

The L4 promotion is reserved for only the most experienced and capable members of the staff.   Any individual that has attained promotion to the L4 level had not only gained complete mastery of nearly all critical department functions, but is also given this promotion to clearly signal their readiness for promotion to officer status.

Current Staff:  None
