The Operations Division of Butler County EMS coordinates the department's staffing, personnel, and human resources functions, as well as the actual and logistical aspects of the department's day-to-day emergency responses, transfers, and special event coverage services that we to all citizens and visitors of Butler County, Kansas.




In 2009, Butler County EMS technicians responded to around 5,700 calls for assistance.  On average, the crews of Butler County EMS respond to 14-16 calls for assistance every day.  BCEMS operates five 24-hour ALS medic units, one 10-hour medic unit (M-F), and two volunteer BLS units from six EMS stations located around the county.  The crews that staff the primary ambulances of our fleet work 24-hour shifts (8am to 8am) and are divided into three duty shifts.  Each shift is supervised by a single operations Captain that also works a 24-hour shift.  All total, the operations fleet of Butler County EMS consists of nine ambulances, three supervisor's vehicles, two specialty rescue units, two rescue boats, various support vehicles, and two mass casualty support vehicles.



Currently, the Operations Division staff consists of thirty full-time, fifteen part-time, three supervisory, three administrative, two clerical and a multitude of dedicated reserve & volunteer employees.  We respond to calls for assistance in and around Butler County, which is about 1,400 square miles in size, and Kansas' geographically largest county.  Within our county and response area are the cities of El Dorado, Augusta, Andover, Rose Hill, Douglass, Benton, Towanda, Leon, Cassoday, Rosalia, Potwin, Burns and Latham.
