*BCEMS employs 30 full-time and up to 15 part time certified attendants in emergency response (street) positions.

*On average, BCEMS conducts 1-2 hiring processes annually.

*Applications are not kept on file and are only accepted during open & posted hiring cycles.

*BCEMS employs Kansas Certified EMT-I and MICT attendants.  BCEMS will also consider applications from EMT certified attendants in the field internship phase of their MICT education.

*On average, BCEMS receives about 30 applications for each open position during hiring processes.  During the most recent hiring process, about 30% of applicants were awarded interviews and about 3% of the total applicant pool was eventually offered employment with BCEMS.  Because our hiring process is so competitive, we recommend that if you are considering applying for BCEMS in the future, you carefully review the information below.

Hiring processes with BCEMS are highly competitive and any potential applicant should consider the following when applying with BCEMS:

*Attention to detail is important.  Carefully read all instructions during the hiring process and make sure all application materials are completed fully, correctly, and accurately.

*Deadlines are important.  Late submission of application materials or the failure to submit supplemental materials will automatically disqualify any applicant.

*Knowing us is important.  Every EMS department is different and not every attendant fits with every department.  Applicants should enter into the BCEMS hiring process with a full understanding of why they want to work for BCEMS, why they think they are a good fit with BCEMS, and what the unique characteristics are of BCEMS that makes our department a good fit for the applicant.

BCEMS considers the following to be highly desirable in applicants:

*Previous EMS field/pre-hospital experience

*Veterans of the United States armed services with honorable discharge

*A proven record of pre-hospital care excellence

*College degrees above the level required by current EMS certification level, or at a minimum, college education beyond that required by current EMS certification level

*Talents, degrees, education, or skills unrelated to EMS that supplement the character of the applicant and bring unique diversity to our team

It is the policy of Butler County not to discriminate in its programs or services provided to the general public, including employment and all other activities, on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, citizenship, sex, age, disability, veteran status or any other similarly protected status
